The SOAP BOARD is throwing its first-ever fundraiser!

(And naturally, we refuse to do it normally.)

Seattle Open Arts Place is built for artists who make things a little differently. They’re wildly ambitious and gloriously experimental. Artists find their voices, invent new ones, break rules, bend forms, and occasionally set the theatrical rulebook on fire at SOAP.

Inspired by this ethos, we have dreamt up a fundraiser that will color outside the lines a bit as we all pitch in to be sure this home for experimenting and launching fresh voices remains strong in the long run.

THE END OF SUMMER “GARDEN PARTY” YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS IS SOAP BOWL!

Sunday, September 13

Woodland Park Lawn Bowling Center

4:00–7:30 PM

We’ve devised a series of games, contests, and sporting events that may resemble familiar lawn games at first glance, but when SOAP* is added, things can change quickly. And spectators can have a say in how slippery a match gets…for a price.

While some match-ups are pre-set for your enjoyment (and will be teased out on the socials), games are available to play for all attendees, with or without SOAPy additions…for a price.

Gameplay is encouraged, though not mandatory. Trash talk is expected, and there may be some finger pointing. There will be light bites and beverages to refresh altercating palates…for a price.

JK, the refreshments are on us, but the entertainment is designed to raise money so SOAP can continue being a home for artists who need a place to experiment, take risks, and make the work they can't make anywhere else.

Come meet the artists who make SOAP what it is. Meet the Sudsters behind the scenes. Hear why this scrappy little arts space matters to the people who use it. Then challenge them (and each other) to a face-off on the lawn!

Please buy a ticket at a price that is comfortable for you. We’ll do our best to get you to leave a little more with us on the day.
